I know you’re looking at these pictures right now and knowing not one of them go together, but that’s kind of what I’m going for this week. I’ve been following Flora Borsi for quite a while, having been reeled in by her IREEL project, which is shown in the headlining image. What catches me about Flora, is that I’m absolutely in love with her artistic eye. While reading up on her and looking into her work, these works were not only beautiful, but made me think.

In the reimaginated “Woman with Green Hat” piece by Picasso, Flora creates a side-by-side picture of what the woman who could have modled for him might look like in real life. This “real life model” project seemed like an amazing idea to me, both in showing the playful side of photoshop, but taking the artistic style that lead up to Picasso’s cubism, and sculpting someone out of it using more modern art. Brilliant stuff.

The last project, because I’m limiting myself, was a “Coffee Universe” Flora used to test the rules of nature. Though I’m not a coffee drinker myself, I have wondered how dreamy the sky would look like swirled over in coffee creamer, and Flora gave me a chance to see that dream world. Simple in idea, but I could get the taste from just looking at these photos. I loved the brown, comforting ambience this universe had, like a cafe on a snowing night, and I would never want to leave.

Flora likes photo-manipulatig to give a sense of reality to what would otherwise be impossible. Born in 1993, she continues both photography, and the art of re-crafting it in Budapest, Hungary.
