Nick Fancher

I hate complicated lighting set-ups. I’ve seen photographers use as many as 5 lights and even more fill cards and flags to light something as simple as a shoe. Nick Fancher prides himself on his simple set-ups. I admire him greatly for this. He has a talent for creating interesting images with interesting lighting and strong compositions. What I admire him for the most though, is how he’s not afraid to tell anyone how he does it. He teaches classes on his unique lighting style and has even published books on it. His newest project is his book, Studio Anywhere, scheduled to be out this spring. He shares how he can turn even the tiniest of closets into a studio and create beautiful portraits with the simplest things. He inspires me to be fearless in my own work and not be afraid to keep things simple. It’s easy to overthink things the Francher reminds us that bigger is not always better.

Take a look at his work here and keep an eye out for his book soon!

Tori likes to take photos and listen to rock and roll. She's usually doing both at the same time in Seattle. She also has a cat. He's pretty cool.
