We’re getting a taste of different styles here at Small Monsterz, and one of them being the art form that is hair. To kind of start this off and get a feel for it, I found out about a project Franck Bohbot did entitled “Cuts.” While it seems that usually Fracnk is working with landscapes and capturing the light and life of New York City, here he explored more of the lifestyle. He went around through the city and stopped at several barbershops and hair salons that caught his eye and captured a little bit of the history there. What I like about these is that these salons are all serving the same purpose, but in different ways. The lighting is great, and the subjects are interesting. They look so starkly different, and in the pictures with the owner, you can see how bits of their style met with making their place of work. I’ll admit, I’m not one that thinks too much into hair and barbershops, but I thought this project was really cool.
