Living in Alberta, Canada and deeply influenced by Asian art and culture, Sarah Gonzales is painting and drawing people in a new light. Though she experiments with plenty of different subjects, my favorite are her portraits. In a few, she mixes forms of collaging and outlining to create different facets of who she’s portraying. This layering adds a new effect to take in, either giving you more to look at, or giving a ghost-like sense about it. She’s done a few projects for book covers and interpreting storytelling with art.
